Junior Trader Tea & Herbals

Location: Toronto, ON (Midtown)

Type: Full-time,| on-site

At Van Rees North America, part of the global Van Rees Group (founded in 1819), we trade, blend, and supply tea and herbal products across Canada and the USA serving top brands. With 13 offices worldwide, we combine deep product knowledge, market expertise, and a global network to support and grow the tea industry.

We are looking for a Junior Trader to join our Toronto team. If you have a commercial mindset, a passion for international trade, and the ambition to develop into a professional trader, this role is for you.

What you will do

• Learn the full trading process: from purchasing and selling to tasting, grading, and blending tea and herbal products.

• Develop product knowledge on Black Tea, Green Tea, Oolong, Matcha, Chamomile, Hibiscus, Lemongrass, Peppermint, and more.

• Support commercial decisions, market analysis, and supplier/customer relations.

• Gain hands-on experience at our operations facility in Oshawa (monthly visits required).

• Collaborate with an international team and global partners.

Job requirements

Who we’re looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Economics, or related field (required).

• 1–3 years of commercial experience (commodity trading experience is a plus).

• Entrepreneurial drive, commercial instinct, and a deal-making mindset.

• Analytical thinker with initiative, creativity, and perseverance.

• Excellent communication skills and strong customer focus.

• A team player with a pragmatic, “can-do” attitude.

• Native or fluent English skills, written and spoken.

• Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident (no work authorization provided).

• Valid Ontario Driving License (for occasional travel).
